I investigate material transformation through experimental processes involving extreme temperatures, drawing parallels with natural evolutionary activity. At the centre of this is a dynamic cycle of disintegration and re-formation, where materials break down and are subsequently reshaped into something new. This connects closely with Joanne’s geochemical analyses where rock is dissolved or broken apart to extract information which ultimately becomes data. These ideas inform my creative approach, and I’ve learned much from geology’s deep time, where the earth itself teaches that nothing is lost—only reshaped, reimagined, reborn.
